COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES DEPARTMENT OF NURSING

Assistant Chair, Department of Nursing

North Carolina Central University (NCCU), located in the Research Triangle, is one of the sixteen constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina System. With an enrollment of more than 7,700 students, the university offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs through the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, the School of Education, the School of Law, and the School of Library and Information Sciences.

NCCU is planning to develop a School of Nursing and is seeking applications for an Assistant Chair position in the Department of Nursing. This is a tenure track position.

The successful candidate must have an earned Doctorate degree in Nursing, Education or related fields. At least five years of experience as an administrator and at least seven years teaching experience in baccalaureate or graduate nursing education. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. History of successful grant acquisition and program implementation.

The program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Rank and salary are competitive and commensurate with education and experience.

Tenure Faculty Positions

The successful candidate must have a minimum of master's degree in nursing and a doctorate in nursing or related field, and scholarly achievements to support an academic appointment to the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor. Specialty areas needed include, but are not limited to, pediatrics, obstetrics, medical surgical, and adult and community mental health nursing. Recent teaching and/or clinical experience required.

The program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Rank and salary are competitive and commensurate with education and experience.

Specialty areas needed include, but are not limited to, pediatrics, obstetrics, mental health, and medical surgical nursing. Recent teaching and/or clinical experience desired.
