All students enrolled in physics department have a chance to receive stipend. Students have opportunity to participate in Research and present their work on students' conferences. In 2001, our students went to:  Japan, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Puerto Rico, Houston, Washington, Orlando, Newport News, Fermi Lab - Chicago, Boulder - Colorado.

FRESHMAN STUDENTS

Minimum Requirements for recent High School Graduates In-state: an SAT score of 750 or better or an ACT score of 17 or better. Out-of-state: an SAT score of 850 or better or an ACT score of 20 or better 4 years of English courses 3 years of math, incl. Algebra I & II and geometry 3 years of science, incl.1 yr. in biology, 1 yr. in the physical sciences (chemistry, physics, physical science), and 1 yr. of science lab. 2 years in social studies, incl. 1 yr. of U.S. history 2 years of a foreign language (highly recommended).

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

North Carolina Central University welcomes international students. These students, in addition to meeting the regular freshman or transfer requirements, must present evidence of their ability to speak, read and write the English language and to meet fully the financial obligations associated with their study at the University. Results of the TOEFL examination (Test of English as a Foreign Language), a financial responsibility statement, and proof of accident and hospital insurance must be submitted along with the application for admission. All materials for admission must be in the appropriate admissions office no later than three (3) months prior to the student's planned enrollment or no later than the deadline for submitting applications, whichever is earlier. Applicants for admission who submit foreign transcripts must pay any costs associated with having those transcripts translated and/or evaluated before they can be admitted.
