     NCCU CRUISE TO A 3-1 VICTORY OVER BETHUNE-COOKMAN

DURHAM, NC - The Eagles of North Carolina Central University (6-4) defeated the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman University in a Friday afternoon match-up at the Florida Gulf Coast Tournament, 3-1 (30-21, 24-30, 30-17, 30-25).

The Eagles took control of game one by cruising to a 30-21 victory, but in game two the Wildcats hunted their prey tying the game at 12 and 22, before taking over the win.  The Eagles came alive in games three and four to take a commanding lead of 15-9 in game three, and a 12-1 lead in game four to capture the match.
                                                                                                                                                                                                    NCCU senior transfer Anielle DaSilva walked away with 17 kills on the day, while teammate Shari Matthew contributed 16 kills.  NCCU setter Ashley Shade had a career-high of 54 assists. 

The Eagles will face tournament host Florida Gulf Coast in Friday’s 7 p.m. night cap.  

On Saturday, the Eagles will rise and shine to square off against Bethune-Cookman at 11:00 a.m.
