Shari MatthewsDURHAM, NC - The North Carolina Central University Eagles volleyball team travels to Maryland to face three MEAC schools in the state during the weekend.

On Friday, Nov. 2, NCCU travels to the eastern shores of Maryland to face off against the Hawks of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Eagles travel to Baltimore to face the Bears of Morgan State University with a game time set for 2 p.m. Rounding out the trip for the Eagle express is a mere five-mile journey from Morgan State to Coppin State University for a showdown to take place Sunday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m.

In 2006, Matthews became NCCU's first volleyball All-American and was voted the NCAA Division II National Player of the Year after leading the nation with an average of 6.37 kills and 0.92 service aces per game, while also breaking the NCAA Division II record for kills in a season with 974.
