North Carolina Central UniversityCROSS COUNTRYThe Official Web Site of the North Carolina Central University "Eagle" Athletics Department(Sept. 29, 2007) NCCU CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS WIN THIRD MEET IN FOUR WEEKS GREENSBORO, N.C. - For the third time in the past four weeks, including two weekends in a row, the North Carolina Central University men's and women's cross country teams have won their respective events. On Saturday (Sept. 29), NCCU swept the Division I competition in the annual Greensboro Invitational at Hagan Stone Park in Greensboro, N.C. The NCCU women finished in first place with 33 team points, followed by second place Winston-Salem State University (41 points), third place High Point University (55 points) and fourth place North Carolina A&T State University (95 points). The NCCU men placed first with 26 team points, followed by second place North Carolina A&T (35 points) and third place Winston-Salem State (65 points). The Lady Eagles were sparked by Desinia Johnson's seventh place effort with a time of 20:02.4 on the 6k-course. Ashley Cooke (14th, 20:35.0), Aisha Brown (17th, 20:41.9) and Adrenee Sterrett (18th, 20:44.2) also finished among the top 20 runners for NCCU. The Eagles were led by Brandon Jones, who placed ninth with a time of 27:59.8 on the 8k-course. Other runners on the leaderboard for NCCU were Rashaad Lee (15th, 27:59.8) and James Kukat (17th, 28:17.4). Both NCCU squads were also victorious at the Old North State Championships
in Greensboro, N.C. on Sept. 22, and the UNC Pembroke Invitational on Sept.
