NCCU SPRINTER MOHAMMED WINS CIAA TITLE IN 100-METER DASH

Hakeem Muhammad     CHARLOTTE, NC - North Carolina Central University freshman sprinter Hakeem Mohammed captured the men's 100-meter dash conference title with a winning time of 10.42 at the 2004 CIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Charlotte, NC.
     A native of Winston-Salem, NC, Mohammed also received All-CIAA honors by placing second in the 200m dash with a time of 20.95, leading the Eagles to a fourth place finish with 72.5 points. 
     He was also a member of the second place 4x400m relay team (Austin Hogan, Mohammed, Dorian Turner and Shareef Muhammad) and the third place 4x100m relay squad (James Richardson, Jason Jowers, Steve Enoch and Mohammed), adding two more All-CIAA honors to his credit.
     NCCU junior Steve Enoch earned two All-CIAA honors with a second place leap of 14.39 meters in the triple jump and a third place effort of 7.29m in the long jump.
     NCCU field specialist Travis Rogers finished second in the discus throw with a toss of 37.82m to claim All-CIAA honors.
     The NCCU women's 4x100m relay team of Sharonda Arnold, Christina Harris, Nickesha Brown and Alena Weldon earned All-CIAA honors with a third place time of 47.65.
     Arnold earned individual All-CIAA honors in the 400m dash with a time of 56.51, helping the Lady Eagles place seventh in the standings with 23 points.
     NCCU also posted four NCAA provisional qualifying standards on Saturday. Hakeem Mohammed provisionally qualified in both the 100m and 200m dashes. The men's 4x400m relay provisionally qualified with a time of 3:12.69, while the women's 4x100m relay also qualified provisionally.
