Jorim E. Reid graduated from Miami Norland Senior High School in Miami, Florida, where he was a student of the renowned bandmaster, Kenneth Rudolph Tolbert. He then graduated from Florida A&M University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in music education with piano as his major instrument. Reid served the band program as principal oboist for wind ensemble and symphonic bands and head drum major, saxophone, and student arranger for marching band. He later received his masters degree in music education from the Florida State University School of Music with oboe as his major instrument. There he studied arranging and composition under Professor Brian Gaber and Professor Bill Peterson. Reid is an assistant professor of music and serves as director of bands at North Carolina Central University. He is also advisor to Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity and Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority.

Reid serves as marching coordinator, arranger, and drill designer for the North Carolina Central University “Sound Machine” Marching Band and director of both symphonic and pep bands. The Marching band has been selected to the Honda Battle of Bands Invitational two years strait representing the CIAA and is the only band representing North Carolina. As a composer and arranger, his music is performed by many high school and university bands across the country including Florida A&M University, and Morris Brown to name a few. Over the years, he has written hundreds of pop, jazz, and gospel compositions and arrangements for orchestra, jazz band, and various other ensembles. Reid also composes music for TV and Radio commercials and motion pictures.

His professional memberships include the College Band Directors National Association, Music Educators National Conference, Florida Music Educators Association, Florida Band Masters Association, National Band Association, Inter Collegiate Music Association, Nashville Songwriters Associations International, Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Honorary Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
