Deborah M. Jefferies - Associate Professor

Deborah Jefferies is an Associate Professor at NCCU School of Law. She began her tenure at NCCU School of Law in 1986 as Acting Law Librarian & Assistant Professor. She served as Director of the Law Library for 23 years. Professor Jefferies teaches Administrative Law and Advanced Legal Research. She has also taught Legal Bibliography, and legal research section of Legal Research and Persuasion classes. Professor Jefferies taught Law Library Management and Information Technology and Intellectual Property for the School of Library and Information Sciences. She has written and presented in the fields of law librarianship and legal research.
Professor Jefferies has been active in both the American Association of Law Libraries and the South Eastern Association of Law Libraries since 1987. She has served on the Board of Directors and as treasurer of SEAALL. She has also chaired the Consortium of South Eastern Law Libraries and several other SEAALL committees. Additionally, Professor Jefferies has served on multiple SEAALL and AALL committees, and volunteered at several AALL annual meetings. She also serves on several Law School and University committees at NCCU. She most recently served as the Librarian on an ABA site evaluation team.
Prior to coming to NCCU School of Law, Professor Jefferies was an Attorney/Advisor for the Department of Health and Human Services. She is a member of the N.C. State Bar.
