Frances P. Solari - Associate Professor
B.A., University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; J.D. and M.L.S., North Carolina Central University.
Frances Solari has worked at the North Carolina Central Univeristy School of Law in some capacity since 1985. She received her B.A. in Philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1980 and her J.D. from NCCU School of Law, graduating cum laude in 1982. She was in private practice with the law firm of Sloan, Moss & Carmichael from 1982-1983 and a managing partner at Bourlon & Cappelletti from 1983-1985. She has served as an adjunct, assistant or associate professor at the NCCU School of Law since that time.
Professor Solari was Serials and Circulation Librarian at the NCCU School of Law from 1985-1986, and Associate Law Librarian from 1988-1989. In 1990 she received a Masters of Library and Information Science from NCCU. In 1990, she was named as the Assistant Dean for the Evening Program where she served until 1994. She is now an associate professor at the Law School. She serves as faculty advisor to the Law Journal.
She has taught Advanced Legal Writing I, Appellate Advocacy, Decedent's Estates I & II, Employment Law I, Family Law, Law Office Practice, Legal Methods I, Property I & II, Real Estate Finance and Remedies at the NCCU School of Law. She also taught at the University of North Carolina School of Law from 1992-1997.
She is a member of the American Bar Association. Her former public service activities include serving as President of the North Carolina ACLU, serving on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Legal Education Assistance Foundation and on the Board of Directors of the Durham County Mental Health Association Adult Services Advisory Board. She also has been a Girl Scout troop leader.
Her published works include North Carolina Appellate Advocacy (Harrison Co. 1989) and supplements (co-authored), Custody of the Illegitimate Child, 18 N.C. Cent. L.J. 18 (1989), Malpractice and Ethical Considerations, 20 N.C. Cent. L.J. 165 (1991), Preserving the Record on Appeal, N.C. State Bar Quarterly (Spring 1994) and An Overview of the New Amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, N.C. State Bar Quarterly (Summer 1994).
