TRLN Cooperative Library Lending Program
The TRLN Cooperative Library Lending Program is a lending agreement
among the libraries of the Triangle Research Libraries Network
(TRLN).

Identification required
NCCU students requesting borrowing privileges at a participating
library must present a valid NCCU student ID card. NCCU faculty,
staff and administrators mus present a current University ID card.
Participants must be currently enrolled or employed at their home
institutions, and in good standing at their home libraries, prior
to visiting a TRLN library. Patrons must present their institutional
ID card when visiting a TRLN member library.
Borrower Verification Procedure
The lending library will verify patrons via the TRLN Authentication
System. This system verifies that you are currently enrolled or
working at the home university and that your library patron’s
record is in good standing (i.e. no overdue books, no outstanding
fines, etc.). the lending library will inform patrons of the method
of verification they are using. After verification, you will need
to follow the registration procedures at the lending library.
Procedures for registration TRLN students may differ at each library.
You will need to provide your NCCU Borrower ID number and your
PIN number. (Your borrower ID is your SS # and, until changed
by you, your PIN is the last four digits of your SS #).
Expiration of Privilege
Eligibility for borrowing will be verified and borrowing privileges
renewed on a regular schedule. Students privileges will expire
on August 15 and December 15. Faculty and staff privileges will
expire annually on December 15. Borrowing privileges must be renewed
the first time an NCCU borrower uses a member library after the
date of expiration.
General Guidelines
The lending library’s undergraduate student loan period
applies to all visiting borrowers, regardless of status.
- All loan policies and charges assessed the visiting borrower
for overdue fines, lost books, or damaged materials will be
based on the policies of the lending libraries.
- The lending library reserves the right to restrict use of
high demand materials. It will also expect immediate return
of all materials that are recalled.
- The lending library may deny borrowing privileges to visitors
who violate its regulations and policies
- Library borrowing privileges may be denied any applicant with
a delinquent record in either his/her home library or another
TRLN cooperating library, or for other sufficient reason.
- All fines and charges are the sole responsibility of the
visiting borrower, not their home institution.
- Unpaid fines or charges will be forwarded to the visiting
borrower’s home campus and applied to the borrower’s
account there.
- New visiting borrowers must go to the main libraries for registration
prior to obtaining borrowing privileges at branch libraries.

ULAC Cooperative Library Borrowing Program
The Cooperative Library Lending Borrowing Program brings together
the sixteen participating libraries of the constituent institutions
of the University of North Carolina in a cooperative direct borrowing
program that constitutes one aspect of a policy of broad sharing
of library resources.

Identification required
NCCU students requesting borrowing privileges at a participating
library must present a valid NCCU student ID card along with another
form of photo ID.
Person eligible and registration procedures
Eligible participants in this program include faculty, students
and staff who can be identified in their home library’s patron
database. Once the patron has been determined to be eligible to
borrow library materials, the lending library is responsible for
registering the borrower in its own database as a ULAC Cooperative
Borrower. Policies governing the ULAC Cooperative Borrowers are
to be determined by the lending library.
Library privileges
Privileges shall include book stack access and home-use borrowing.
All materials borrowed shall be subject to the ULAC Cooperative
Borrower patron guidelines of the lending library. All loan procedures
and all charges assessed the cooperative user for overdue books,
lost books, or damaged materials shall also be based on the policies
of the lending library.
The lending library reserves the right to refuse borrowing and
building-use privileges to any individual who violates the regulations
of that library. Any library may deny cooperative borrowing privileges
to any prospective borrower who is delinquent at his or her library
or in any of the cooperating libraries. All fines and charges
are the sole responsibility of the visiting borrower, not their
home institution. Unpaid fines or charges will be forwarded to
the visiting borrower’s home institution and applied to
the borrower’s account there.
